Anchorman: The Legend of Ron Burgandy

This is another golden sombrero on Will Ferrell’s head. I already want to see it again. This is seriously a funny movie, that should be seen by all. Will Ferrell plays Ron Burgandy, famed newscaster from metropolitan San Diego in the 1970’s. He and his action news team are on top of everything, but there is trouble in the air as they’re party is rudely pooped by an ambitious young woman who aspires to be a news anchor in a male dominated field.
Christina Applegate plays the role super strict, and all the characters go over the top cheesy in their 70’s varnish and appeal. Soon the action team is hitting on her and she shoots them all down, save for Ron Burgandy, whom of course she falls in love with. Between his playing the Jazz Flute and complaining of his dog, Baxter’s habit of speaking Spanish, Ferrell is perfect as Burgandy, and is a terrific lead, not the funniest in the movie, but holding his own.
Between maintaining gender dominance and running into trouble at the hands of other action news teams (lead by cameo appearances by Vince Vaughn, Owen Wilson, Tim Robbins and Ben Stiller) they action news team is falling apart, and is hit even harder by the disgrace of Burgundy himself.
But months later, only Ron Burgandy can help save the greatest News story of his career, and resurrect the News team. A 2.
