A Man Apart

The Typecasting never ends for Vin Diesel, as he plays yet another tough guy with criminal history, who’s now attempting to do justice as a fed. We watch as he busts a top drug dealer, and then a hit is called in on him and his wife. He escapes but his wife dies, and he is thus inspired for revenge. He seeks out his old criminal ties, as well as exploiting his power as a fed, and eventually messes up a bust and takes the opportunity to beat one of the dealers henchmen to death.
Overall, the plot and characters aside from Diesels were quite intrigueing, and very engaging. And His skill as an actor is improving…which makes me even more excited to see Chronicles of Riddick.
The Action had a distinctly fake feeling in this, however, and though the message, character and plot were solid, the execution, while entertaining, was not all that it could have been. In all, the ideas were unoriginal, and the movie was a rip off of Collateral Damage, starring Arnold Schwarzeneggar.
I think with a few more attempts, Diesel will have more and more success at acting, I’d even be willing to see Triple X now, but in any case, This movie was a 2, and I’d see it again, a great entertainer, a nice twisty plot, and believable too.
